Beat Games is ending support for Beat Saber on PS4 and PS5 in a move that will impact PlayStation VR and PlayStation VR2 users.
In an updated FAQ the studio explained Beat Saber and all DLC will remain available to purchase and play—but said it will no longer be releasing updates for the title on PlayStation. Multiplayer support will also be axed on January 21, 2026.
“As we look to the future and plan the next big leap for Beat Saber, we have made the decision to no longer release updates for PS4 and PS5 starting in June 2025,” reads the FAQ. “Our passion for VR remains unwavering. We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and what we can bring to Beat Saber fans who have been on this journey with us over the past 7 years.”
Beat Games will continue supporting the title on Steam and Meta Quest.

According to the PlayStation Blog, Beat Saber was the most-downloaded PS VR2 title in the United States, Canada, and Europe in 2024—although it’s unclear just how many downloads it would have needed to claim that title. By contrast we know Beat Saber has at least 10 million owners on Meta Quest platforms (thanks UploadVR).
Sony remains tight-lipped when it comes to discussing the performance of its own VR hardware. In 2023, the company said PS VR2 had outsold its predecessor during its first six weeks on shelves.

A year later, however, Bloomberg reported the Japanese company had halted PS VR2 production due to flagging sales. Shortly after, Android Central reported that Sony had made “deep cuts to funding for VR games.”
At the beginning of 2025, Sony announced a permanent PS VR2 price drop and began selling the headset at $399 in the United States. A significant decrease on its retail price of $550. Similar pricing reductions were rolled out in other regions.
